Chelsea told eye-popping amount they must pay to land prolific Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres in January transfer window

Posted on December 18, 2023 By armanzafar887@gmail.com

Chelsea has recently found themselves amid transfer speculation as they express interest in acquiring the talents of Viktor Gyokeres, the Sporting CP star, during the upcoming January transfer window. The 25-year-old striker has been on the radar of several top clubs, with reports suggesting that London rivals Arsenal are also in the race for his signature. However, the Sporting boss, Ruben Amorim, has unequivocally communicated that the Portuguese side is not willing to part ways with Gyokeres unless his hefty release clause of €100 million (£86m/$109m) is met.

Fabrizio Romano report About Viktor Gyokeres

In a statement reported by Fabrizio Romano, Amorim asserted that Gyokeres will only be allowed to leave if a club is willing to trigger the buyout clause in January. This firm stance reflects Sporting’s commitment to retaining their prized asset, underlining their confidence in the player’s value.

Viktor Gyokeres made a notable move from English Championship team Coventry to Sporting CP during the summer transfer window, securing a contract with the Portuguese club until 2028. The striker has wasted no time in making his mark, showcasing an impressive performance with 17 goals in 19 matches across various competitions. His recent goal against Porto in the Primeira Liga further solidifies his reputation as a prolific goal-scorer.

Gyokeres’ journey in professional football includes a stint with Brighton, where he spent three years but made only eight appearances. During this period, he was loaned out to St. Pauli, Swansea, and Coventry before making a permanent move to the latter in 2021.

As Chelsea contemplates their next move in the transfer market, the question arises whether they will be willing to meet Gyokeres’ release clause to bolster their attacking options. The Blues, known for their goal-scoring prowess, have recently received a boost with the return of Christopher Nkunku. Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that Nkunku is set to make his debut in the Carabao Cup clash against Newcastle, adding depth to Chelsea’s attacking lineup.

In conclusion, the potential transfer of Viktor Gyokeres to Chelsea hinges on the club’s willingness to meet the substantial release clause set by Sporting CP. As the January transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Stamford Bridge to see if the Blues make a decisive move to secure the services of the prolific striker.
