Susan Lucci Passes on Reality TV Romance
ABC recently approached legendary soap opera actress Susan Lucci with an intriguing proposition: to become the first “Golden Bachelorette.” Lucci, best known for her iconic role as Erica Kane on “All My Children,” respectfully declined the offer.
Lucci’s decision comes after the recent loss of her husband, Helmut Huber, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 84. The couple had been married for 52 years. Despite her admiration for the “Bachelor” franchise, which she described as a “new addiction,” Lucci felt that this particular opportunity wasn’t the right fit for her at this time.
Joan Vassos to Lead “The Golden Bachelorette”
Following Lucci’s decision, ABC announced that Season 1 of “The Golden Bachelorette” will feature Joan Vassos, a contestant from the original “Bachelor” season. Vassos, 61, expressed her eagerness to find love on the show, stating, “I really want love. I want to have somebody in my life. I feel like life is better when you share it with somebody.”
Vassos emphasized her preference for this platform over traditional dating websites, believing “The Golden Bachelorette” offers a unique opportunity to find genuine connection.
