Turkey is in a state of mourning after a devastating fire ripped through the Grand Kartal Hotel in the popular ski resort of Kartalkaya, claiming the lives of 66 people and injuring dozens more.
The fire broke out early Tuesday morning in the restaurant of the 12-story hotel, quickly engulfing the building. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed the tragic toll, stating that at least 51 people were injured in the disaster.
Two of the victims tragically lost their lives after jumping from the burning building in a desperate attempt to escape the flames.
