Chrissy Teigen recently took to Instagram to share the news of her son Miles’s Type 1 diabetes diagnosis. The news came to light after fans noticed a glucose monitor on Miles’s arm in a photo she posted celebrating Simone Biles and Team USA at the Paris Olympics.
Teigen expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from her followers. “So many of you reached out to say the most beautiful and incredible words I have ever witnessed on this platform,” she wrote. “You brought his type-1 diabetes monitor to his attention and showed him an incredible amount of love and encouragement in every way that was possible.”
A Sudden Diagnosis
The diagnosis came as a surprise. Teigen revealed that Miles was initially hospitalized for shigella, an intestinal infection. However, during his treatment, doctors noticed abnormalities in his blood tests. Further tests confirmed a Type 1 diabetes diagnosis.
“We are experiencing a new and distinct environment, and we are certainly gaining a great deal of knowledge on the go,” Teigen shared, acknowledging the challenges that lie ahead.
A Message of Hope and Support
Teigen concluded her post by expressing her gratitude for the kindness and support from her fans. “Knowing that this is something that so many other people are going through and that he is not alone is a tremendous source of comfort for Miles,” she wrote.
