Last Dance Without CR7: Will Messi and Ronaldo Meet Again?

Posted on January 24, 2024 By armanzafar887@gmail.com

The upcoming ‘Last Dance’ on February 1st has been generating a lot of excitement, marking what could be the final showdown between soccer icons Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. However, Al Nassr recently delivered disheartening news – Cristiano Ronaldo is sidelined due to injury, leading to the cancellation of the team’s anticipated trip to China. This setback has raised uncertainties about Ronaldo’s participation in the Last Dance against Inter Miami.

Expressing his disappointment, CR7 assured fans of his swift return. Unfortunately, reports suggest that he may not recover in time for the clash against Lionel Messi’s team. Dealing with a muscle injury, the recovery timeline is estimated at two weeks, prompting the cancellation of Chinese fixtures on January 24th and 28th. While Al Nassr has not provided details on the injury’s severity, the scrapped tour implies Ronaldo might not even make it to the bench on February 1.

Despite the setback, the Last Dance tournament, featuring Al Nassr, Al Hilal, and Inter Miami, will proceed. However, the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to dampen the spirits of spectators. Having faced each other 36 times, the last encounter was in the clash between Al Nassr and PSG in 2023. The question arises – is the February 1st battle truly the Last Dance, or could these two legends meet again in the future?

Looking beyond the February event, there are compelling reasons why Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi might face off again. Firstly, both players could extend their contracts with their current teams, given their continued high-level performance and recent accolades. With contracts expiring in 2025, there is ample time to schedule future games even without extensions.

Another factor is the potential encounter at the FIFA Club World Cup. If Al Nassr wins the Asian Champions League and Inter Miami clinches the CONCACAF Champions League, they would meet in a higher-stakes match at the Club World Cup, depending on the draw.

In conclusion, while the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo in the upcoming Last Dance is a disappointment, the future may hold more opportunities for the two soccer legends to face off once again.
